Liz Appel has always had a passion for everything horses and now serves as the barn manager for Harmony Icelandics.
Growing up in Virginia, Liz earned her bachelor's of Animal Science degree at Virginia Tech while also riding on the intercollegiate team. During summers she worked at a well established thoroughbred prepping farm outside Charlottesville and had the fun opportunity of working the Fasig-Tipton sales in Lexington, Kentucky and exercising polo ponies.
She got a taste for foxhunting and riding for others while living and working at Paper Chase Farms in Middleburg, Virginia. She has been an active foxhunter since 1992 with The Moingona Hunt.
With 25 years experience as an equine Practice Manager, equine midwife, horse owner and avid foxhunter, becoming barn manager for Harmony Icelandics was a natural fit.
Whether there is a barn or horse to clean, a medical or nutritional decision, a "wind in your hair" ride, a slow trail ride , or a beginner lesson to be taught, Liz has done it.
The best things she has done EVER:
1. Her son and daughter
2. Her degree
3. Her horse knowledge and passion to pass it on to future generations.
